Strong growth rates in housebuilding has meant that the UK construction sector continues to grow at a fast rate. January 2014 orders for new houses were strong and gave a great start to the year, however June has been the strongest month for new orders since then. Most construction firms are reporting that they are now hiring again which is strong proof of the overall optimism in the construction industry.
House prices are continuing to rise due to high demand factors and low interest rates available in the UK at present, some analysts have predicted that house prices will reach the peaks of 2006/2007. They are also predicting that construction employment will continue to grow through out 2014 and into 2015. This is welcome news to many construction employees who lost their jobs during one of the worst recessions to hit the UK and Europe. This will have a positive knock on effect on overall economic growth and spending in the UK.
