We are advising customers looking to purchase Cladseal 15 seals to opt for Sealux Reg 15 as a suitable alternative. Both seals are almost identical, the difference being: in the case of Cladseal the outer leg protrudes from the upstand perpendicular (90 degrees) whereas with Sealux 15 it protrudes at a slightly splayed angle. This does not cause any sealing performance issues.
Cladseal 15 is an ideal waterproof seal to be used in conjunction with lightweight (6mm) PVC Wall Panels. This pack consists of 2 trims, each trim is 1700mm long.
See here for Cladseal Trade Packs Please note that Endcaps for Cladseal 15 are unavailable from the manufacturer (Sealux Ltd.) We will include Cladseal 18 Endcaps with all shipments of Cladseal 15 Trims, these can be cut to down to size.
Cladseal 15 Trims are 1700mm long,
Cladseal 15 trims were specifically designed as a sealing trim to be used between lightweight PVC wall panels (typically 5-6mm depth) and shower trays/baths. Cladseal 15 is endorsed by Europe's leading pvc wall panel manufacturers.
Cladseal is a Patented product. Cladseal 15 is designed to span a 4-5mm gap between the wall and adjacent ledge.
We advise installers to use a High Quality Sanitary Grade Silicone such as Sealux-N. The Sealux-N silicone is allowed to stretch (by use of the patented bond breaker) when movement occurs between the shower tray ledge and the adjacent wall (See below for a detailed description) Cladseal 15 trim is an ideal trim to use around your bathroom, it is hygienic, flexible, durable and attractive.
Please see the illustration drawing above. Excluding the uppermost surface (x), the inner cavity walls of Cladseal 15 have a polythene tape applied. This is represented by the dotted green line. Sealux-N silicone will not bond to this polythene tape. Joint movement occurs on all houses and is seasonal due to a fluctuation in temperature. When joint movement occurs between the wall and ledge, the Sealux-N silicone bonded to Cladseal 15 at (x) and to the ledge at (y) comes under a tensile force. To reduce this build up of tension the silicone must stretch, but to stretch it must first release off the inner cavity walls of Cladseal 15 so a silicone bond breaker is required (according to BS 5385). The polythene tape is our silicone bond breaker and this allows the silicone to release off the inner cavity walls of Cladseal 15 and stretch to reduce the build up of tension.Elasticity is created through the flexible "bridge" of silicone connecting (x) to (y). This "bridge" of silicone elongates to maintain stress free bonds with Cladseal at (x) and the ledge at (y). The silicone runs continuously through the corner joints, it remains visually concealed and environmentally protected inside the Cladseal 15 strip.
